Intimate

Alongside the wider landscape, I also love intimate nature photography: the texture of bark, the delicate structure of a flower, or the tiny scenes mushrooms create. Learning to see these intimate scenes, the ones you only notice when walking through nature with an open eye, has become something I genuinely value. Some of my intimate photography takes an even more abstract approach, either using photographic techniques like ICM (intentional camera movement) or adding a more deliberate edit to bring out the character of a place. The great thing about intimate nature photography is that the subject doesn’t need to sit in a conventionally “beautiful” setting; it’s something you can do and practice almost anywhere.
